I believe that the purpose of this practicum is to prepare us, the pre-service teachers, for our future career. The sea-teach practicum taught me how to be flexible and resourceful. It taught me how to react to situations calmly and positively. Also, I believe that another purpose of this practicum is to expose us, the future teachers, to different people, culture, and tradition of other nation. In my case, it is Indonesia.

     My sea-teach practicum experience in Indonesia has been very worthwhile. I have met new people, went to different places, discovered new things, and I have been exposed to the wonderful culture and traditions of Indonesia.

​

     In terms of education, i have seen the similarities and differences that the Philippines and Indonesia have. I have observed the school, the students, the teachers, and the routine. I am very glad that I have learned a lot from these things.

​

     One of  the challenges that I have encountered during my sea-teach practicum was the language barrier. At first, it was difficult because I am not familiar with Bahasa Indonesia. But over time, I was able to understand and speak Bahasa words with the help of my buddies. Every Friday, we have Bahasa class where the buddies taught us the basic and most necessary Bahasa words that we need to learn. They taught us perkenalkan, angka, and instruksi ruang kelas. I am very grateful to my buddies because they served as my Bahasa teachers during my stay in Indonesia. The Bahasa sessions were indeed very helpful.

     My suggestion for future improvement is to continue conducting the Bahasa class to the future pre-service teachers that will be deployed in Indonesia because I found it really helpful in my every day stay in Indonesia and it was also very helpful during my teaching practice.

     All in all, my sea-teach practicum has been very wonderful and surreal. All of my experiences in Indonesia will forever be treasured. Aku cinta Indonesia!
